F*CK Surgery!!

Are you f*&ing kidding me AMP radio?

"Breast Summer Ever Contest" - Winner gets a breast augmentation. REALLY!? Because God knows if you have small boobies you're going to have the WORST Summer ever!

This disgusts me in so many ways. If a woman decides to get surgery to improve her looks.. whatever. But, a contest where people vote on your picture to win a surgery is concerning.

My biggest concern is this...

I don't know the exact stats on Amp Radio listeners but judging by the genre of music - pop - I think it's safe to say that most of the listeners are YOUNG.

Your young listeners are already subjected to a ton of media that is affecting their self esteem in negative ways - why do you need to contribute to the mess?

Like girls need any more encouragement to not feel good enough, to feel that they need to surgically change their bodies to have fun in the summer.

I have seen young girls develop unhealthy habits as young as 10 years old because they want to look "a certain way." They won't eat because at 80lbs they think they're fat. They don't like themselves because they're too skinny, too short, too ugly, their boobs are too small, asses to big, knees are too knobby, ... don't believe me? Go ask any 13 year old girl what she thinks she looks like.

Your listeners don't need more encouragement to be unhealthy they need some role models. Instead of trying to get more listeners and interest from a silly degrading contest, why not follow Dove's footsteps and run a contest that has a more positive message.

At the end of the day, we all have freedom of choice - thankfully! To each their own... if you choose to have surgery, it's your choice. But to have a contest like this is DISGUSTING!! Amp radio, you have to be accountable to your young and impressionable audience and be a little more responsible to the message you're putting out there.

To all you women out there who are toying with the idea of actually entering this, do yourself a favour - box up your insecurities and put it up on the shelf somewhere - keep it there. You are PERFECT just the way you are. Take care of your bodies - eat healthy, drink water, rest, exercise and most importantly F*CK surgery!

Love,

A.

A comment that was left on the FB version of this from a trainer:

"Things like this are the reason I love my job and try to spread fitness and wellness to as many young people as possible. It's a sad society we are in; I think the contest would be a lot better with the winner receiving some dietary counseling and proper fitness coaching instead. Hell of a lot more life changing than a new pair of boobs. Sad society we are in"

It is ALL about LEADERSHIP!!
